Our God is just so awesome! I have another story for you that would take the time to hear/read what our God has done in someones life today. (it's really long but I have to share.) Sam and I were pushing the Trax cart around and we were on our way from EXIT youth shelter when we saw our friend Eugene sitting on a milk crate leaning against the building. Something you should know about Eugene is that he is a homeless man. Eugene makes a living by leaning up against that building everyday and asking for change. He then in turn uses whatever he makes that day to buy supper for himself. You might be asking why doesn't he just get a job then. Well Eugene is unable to get a job because he has had a stroke not too long ago, as well as not being able to move his left hand and one of his eyes is blind. (I am unsure if the stroke is to blame for these things) Anyways we roll up beside him and ask him how his day is going and if he would like a coffee, and then Sam begins to pray for him while I start to load up my wallet full of cards (with Streetlight info so I can hand them out to youth later on) I am unable to hear what Sam says as he is praying but when I look at him I can see Christ though him, just a real genuineness to what is praying for and why. "Amen." Sam says out loud and I say amen in turn. And then proceed to turn around to do something on the cart (I don't remember why) but then as soon as I turn back in Eugene's cup, almost out of thin air a $20 bill appears. Tears started streaming down my face and I am unsure why (at least for that moment). I quickly turned to see a woman walking away… She had slipped through all of us, undetected and placed the bill in his cup, and by the time I saw her she was already down the street. We all looked at that cup as the $20 just sat in there. "Wow" Sam say's and then I reply "God has certainly blessed that woman today!" Then Eugene did the most beautiful thing, he held up the $20 bill in the air just started praising God. "I'm going to eat well tonight!" Eugene exclaims as he slips the bill into his pocket. Then Sam says "I had prayed for this to happen, that Eugene would be able to eat well tonight and God has answered that prayer immediately!" Praise God!
I don't know who that woman was, she looked pretty well off. And maybe perhaps Sam and I had just demonstrated a reckless compassion one which was so contagious that she had to act… she had seen Christ… or maybe she was an angel…
but all I know is that I had seen Jesus show up today. Glory to God. Amen.
